An arena in Bologna dedicated to Joe Strummer

Great celebration at the Parco Nord in Bologna for the dedication of the arena of the park to Joe Strummer, the frontman of the English punk band The Clash, dead at only 50 years old, on 2002 December 22nd.

Just in this arena, Strummer plaied one of his last concerts, on 1999, with his band Mescaleros. To celebrate the dedication, from tonight till Wednesday July 5th, there will be several concerts, for the ‘Strummer Live Festival’, under the theme of the political and social engagement, peculiar in Strummer and in the The Clash music. This evening will open the celebrations, at 6.30 p.m., the balkan musician Goran Bregovich with the Wdding & Funeral Orkestar. The official ceremony for the dedication will take place tomorrow, on July 4th. There will play, from 5.00 o’clock p.m., Manu Chao with his band Ventura, the band from Rome, Banda Bassotti, the band from Emilia-Romagna, Modena City Ramblers. With the Rambkers will be on stage, also, the ex band singer Cisco Bellotti. He will sing ‘Bella Ciao’: Tomorrow, will play, also, Punkreas, Strike and Fermin Muguruza Kontrakantxa. On Friday July 5th, there will be the Africa Unite and the Alborosie, that play raggae, at 6.30 a.m.. A lot of music soul, as that ones of The Clash, and a great civil engagement, like that Joe Strummer had.
